Welcome to my part of the world! Born in India, raised in Bahrain, and settled in the USA, I'm now starting on a new journey to find a place to call home, viewing each destination with fresh eyes and an open heart. Join me in this adventure of reinvention and discovery, as I share my experiences and seek support and companionship along the way.

Valerie Teresa Lyke – My mom, my person, my entire heart
It’s been 4 months since shes been gone gone from my life. Gone where you ask? Who the fuck knows? To the party in the sky? Back to the ocean? Back to eternity. And while she’s gone there hasn’t been a day I don’t think of her, wish she was around and accidentally reach for my phone to send her a quick text or call – to tell her about the crazy random shit that happens to me on a daily basis. And believe me… I do a lot of dumb shit so there are a zillion funny moments to share. My person, the one person who loved me unconditionally is gone. And she’s not coming back… and I’m lost without her. Death has such finality. It’s the end all be all. The one enviable that we can’t run from… and I should know I am a runner. She’s not around to laugh at my stories and say… Imagine!! Oh candy you are too funny baby! Or …” You my precious baby and you can do anything, everything will be fine!” She was a ray of sunshine in a very cloudy world. She was song that replayed in head that kept me positive and dancing thru life. Now that she’s gone I find my steps heavier, my world cloudy and my heart overflowing with sadness. I find myself lost and searching for meaning, searching for answers, searching for the comfort she so generously bestowed on me. I find myself talking to her in my mind and heart all the time… but does she hear me? Does anyone really hear me?
She is my heart my whole heart, she is my person, she is part of me. We have each other’s cells.. we are one. So essentially this is why I feel like I am missing. I am missing her and I am missing me.
I’m hoping I find us somewhere… maybe a sunset, maybe a flower, maybe in love.
Grief is not just an emotion –
It is an unraveling.
It’s the space where something once lived, but is now gone, leaving behind a hollow ache where once love resided.
The truth is – you never move on – you move with it.
The love you had does not disappear – it transforms.
