Are we all broken? Or is it just me????
I continue to have an open relationship- yet randomly I find myself thinking… why doesn’t anyone love and want only me? Am I not good enough? What do I lack that my partners seem to need more than I have to offer? After some thought I came to the conclusion… my partners are just like me. No one is choosing to be hurtful… this is the situation we’ve all chosen. We all have chosen not to be monogamous! We have all chosen to be in an open relationship! We all don’t want to commit… either its because we don’t want to get hurt (or put all our eggs in one basket) or like the selfish individuals we are we want want variety, ease and the unbroken- aspects of everyone. We don’t have to deal with the broken bits. However, the cracks are where the light gets in -to an otherwise dark space.
My beautiful friend Anna Michalska did an art piece that touched me. She did her piece in the Kintsukuroi style, reminding me that the broken bits can be repaired and are still considered beautiful.
Kintsugi (金継ぎ, “golden joinery”), also known as kintsukuroi (金繕い, “golden repair”),[1] is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum, a method similar to the maki-etechnique.[2][3][4] As a philosophy, it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise. This philosophy is beautiful to me. Anna reminded me that our flaws are part of us and they lead the way to beauty and redemption.
So yes there are times I feel very unworthy broken and insecure… I just have to keep remembering that I’m unique and my flaws & broken bits are what makes me a work of art. So onward to a new narrative that my cracks allow me have!
To all of you that are feeling insecure…. remember, Your broken bits and flaws make you a unique labor of art.
If anyone wants a tutorial… here’s Anna! ♥️.
